The Cat That Came Back
Every morning, a small orange cat comes to Emma’s front door. Emma does not know where it comes from.
One day, Emma gives the cat some food. The cat eats a little, but then walks away.
The next morning, the cat comes back. Emma gives it more food, but again, it eats only a little.
“Why doesn’t it finish its food?” Emma asks her mom.
On Saturday, Emma decides to follow the cat.
The cat walks down the street and stops near an old house. Then it goes behind a big box.
Emma looks behind the box and sees three tiny kittens!
“Oh! You’re a mother!” Emma says.
The orange cat looks at Emma and makes a soft sound.
Emma runs home and tells her mom.
Together, they bring some food and water for the cats.
Now Emma understands why the cat comes every morning. It needs food for itself and its babies.
