Dealing with Bullying

Emma: You seemed pretty quiet during lunch today. Is something bothering you?
Jason: Yeah, I saw some kids picking on a younger student. It reminded me of what happened to me at my old school.
Emma: What do you mean? Did something like that happen to you?
Jason: Yeah. I used to get bullied a lot when I was younger.
Emma: I’m sorry to hear that. What did they do to you?
Jason: They made fun of the way I talked and sometimes left me out on purpose.
Emma: That sounds awful. Did you ever tell anyone about it?
Jason: At first, I kept it to myself because I was afraid things would get worse.
Emma: So how did you finally deal with it?
Jason: I finally told a teacher, and she helped put a stop to it.
Emma: I’m glad you spoke up. Nobody deserves to be treated like that.
Jason: Thanks. I think I’ll tell a teacher about what I saw today, too.
