Worried About Self-Driving Buses
Driver: Hey, how’s it going? I’m getting a little sleepy, so I’m looking for a safe place to pull over.
Friend: Hey! Yeah, you should definitely stop and get some rest.
Driver: I will. Actually, there’s something I’ve been thinking about lately.
Friend: Oh yeah? What’s on your mind?
Driver: Do you think self-driving buses will eventually put drivers like me out of work?
Friend: It’s possible. Technology is moving pretty fast these days.
Driver: That’s what worries me. I don’t want to lose my job to a machine.
Friend: I get that, but I think it’ll be a long time before buses can run completely without drivers.
Driver: I hope so. I’ve been driving buses for over fifteen years. I can’t imagine doing anything else.
Friend: Even if buses become self-driving, they’ll probably still need people to handle emergencies.
Driver: You’re probably right. I just hope I can keep doing this until I retire.
Friend: I hope so too. Anyway, get some rest before you get back on the road, okay?
