Instructions: Translate the following Chinese sentences into natural, complete English sentences.
要求：把下面的中文翻译成自然、完整的英文句子。
① 很多人每天乘坐公共交通去上班。
Answer
Many people take public transportation to work every day.
时态： 这句话描述的是经常发生的、习惯性的行为，所以使用一般现在时。其中 every day 是非常典型的一般现在时时间状语。
主谓一致： 主语 people 是复数，所以谓语动词使用原形 take，不能加 -s。

经常发生的行为 → 一般现在时
主语 people 是复数 → take，不加 -s
② 良好的睡眠可以帮助学生更好地集中注意力。
Answer
Good sleep can help students concentrate better.
can 表示“能够、可以”：这里表达的是一种一般性的能力或作用
结构 help sb. do sth. → help students concentrate
better 修饰 concentrate：表示“更好地集中注意力”
↓
can + 动词原形 → can help
help + 人 + 动词原形 → help students concentrate
better + 修饰动词 → concentrate better
③ 一些老年人喜欢在公园里锻炼。
Answer
Some older people like exercising in parks.
时态：这句话描述的是一些老年人的一般喜好或习惯，所以使用一般现在时。
主语 people 是复数 → like 不加 -s
结构 like doing sth → like exercising
in parks ：介宾短语，在句中作地点状语，修饰 exercising。
↓
一般的喜好 → 一般现在时 like
people 是复数 → like，不加 -s
like doing sth. → like exercising → 喜欢锻炼
介词 in + 名词 parks → in parks，作地点状语 → 在公园里
④ 网上购物给人们的生活带来了很多便利。
Answer
Online shopping has made people’s lives more convenient.
时态：现在完成时 has made → 表示网上购物已经给现在的生活带来了影响。
主语 Online shopping 不可数 → 用 has，不用 have。
结构 make something + 形容词 → 表示“使……变得……”。
make people’s lives more convenient → 使人们的生活更加便利。
⑤ 孩子需要足够的时间休息和玩耍。
Answer
Children need enough time to rest and play.
一般现在时：need → 表示一般的需要。
Children 是复数 → 用 need，不加 -s。
结构：need something to do something → need enough time to rest and play
⑥ 越来越多的年轻人开始关注自己的健康。
Answer
More and more young people are starting to pay attention to their health.
现在进行时：are starting → 表示目前正在出现的一种趋势。
people 是复数 → 用 are。
start to do sth → 表示“开始做某事”。
pay attention to something → 表示“关注……”。
their health → 表示“他们的健康”，health 通常是不可数名词。
⑦ 阅读是学习新知识的一种好方法。
Answer
Reading is a good way to learn new things.
Reading 是动名词作主语 → 表示“阅读这件事”，作主语时看作不可数，所以用 is。
way 是可数名词 → a way → a good way。
a good way to do sth → 表示“做某事的一个好方法” → a good to learn new things
⑧ 很多家庭周末会一起吃饭。
Answer
Many families eat together on weekends.
一般现在时：eat → 表示经常发生的、习惯性的行为。
families 是复数 → 用 eat，不加 -s。
together 是副词 → 修饰动词 eat ，表示“一起” → eat together 一起吃。
on weekends → 表示“在周末 / 每逢周末”，说明这个行为经常发生。
⑨ 学习使用新技术需要时间。
Answer
Learning to use new technology takes time.
Learning 是动名词，不可数
Learning to use new technology 整体作主语，不可数，所以用 takes。
learn to do sth. → 表示“学习做某事”，所以是 learning to use。
technology 是不可数名词 → 这里表示“技术”这一整体概念，不加 a，也不加 -s。
time 是不可数名词 → take time 表示“需要时间”。
⑩ 有些学生放学后会参加体育活动。
Answer
Some students take part in sports activities after school.
一般现在时：take → 表示经常发生的、习惯性的行为。
students 是复数 → 用 take，不加 -s。
take part in something → 表示“参加……”，

take public transportation 是统称“乘坐公共交通”。如果具体到交通工具，最常用的是 take + 交通工具。
take the bus 坐公交车
I take the bus to work every day.
我每天坐公交车上班。
take the subway 坐地铁
She takes the subway to school.
她坐地铁上学。
take the train 坐火车
We took the train to New York.
我们坐火车去了纽约。
take the light rail 坐轻轨
Many commuters take the light rail downtown.
很多通勤者坐轻轨去市中心。
take a taxi / take a cab 坐出租车
We took a taxi to the airport.
我们坐出租车去了机场。
take an Uber / take a Lyft 坐 Uber / Lyft
I’ll take an Uber to the hotel.
我会坐 Uber 去酒店。
表达“乘某种公共交通工具”时，通常使用：
take + the + 公共交通工具
所以是：
take the bus
take the subway
take the train
这里的 the 并不一定是在说“某一辆特定的公交车”，而是这种交通方式的惯用表达。
但是 taxi / cab / Uber 一般是：
take a taxi
take a cab
take an Uber
因为这里更接近“叫一辆/乘一辆车”。
如果只是表达“交通方式”，还可以使用 by + 交通工具，而且通常不加冠词 the/a：
I go to work by bus.
我坐公交车上班。
She goes to school by subway.
她坐地铁上学。
We traveled there by train.
我们坐火车去那里。
记一个非常实用的对比：
take the bus = by bus
take the subway = by subway
take the train = by train
但句法不同：
I take the bus to work. ✓
I go to work by bus. ✓
I go to work by the bus. ✗
