The Haze 烟霾

The Haze

A: Hey, you don’t have a mask? Here, I’ve got an extra one.
B: Thanks! I was in such a rush this morning that I forgot to bring one.
A: The haze has been pretty bad lately. You should really wear a mask when you’re outside.
B: Yeah, I know. The air quality has been terrible these past few days.
A: I heard some of the haze is coming from forest and peatland fires in Indonesia.
B: Really? I wonder if El Niño has anything to do with it.
A: It could. El Niño can make the weather drier, which makes the fires worse.
B: That makes sense. I’ve been checking the air quality index every morning before leaving home.
A: That’s a good idea. I’ve also been keeping my windows closed and running an air purifier at home.
B: I should probably get one too. I’ve been coughing a lot whenever I go outside.
A: You should try to stay indoors as much as possible when the air quality is bad.
B: Yeah, I’ll be more careful. Hopefully, the air will clear up soon.
