The Mystery of Room 207

On Monday morning, Ethan found a strange note inside his school locker. It was written on a small piece of yellow paper.

“Go to Room 207 after school. Come alone. Don’t tell anyone.”

Ethan stared at the note. There was no name, and he had no idea who had written it. At first, he thought it was a joke. However, he couldn’t stop thinking about it during his lessons.

At lunchtime, Ethan showed the note to his best friend, Lucas.

“You’re not seriously going, are you?” Lucas asked.

“Why not? I’m curious,” Ethan replied.

“Well, if something goes wrong, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

After school, Ethan walked towards Room 207. The hallway was almost empty, and most of the classrooms were already locked. As he approached the room, he noticed that the door was slightly open.

He pushed it gently and stepped inside.

The lights were off, but he could hear someone moving behind a large cupboard.

“Hello? Is anyone there?” he called.

Suddenly, something fell onto the floor with a loud crash. Ethan jumped backwards. For a moment, he considered running away.

Then someone switched on the lights.

“Surprise!”

Ethan blinked in confusion. Standing in front of him were Lucas, several classmates, and his science teacher, Mr. Harris.

On a table was a small robot surrounded by colorful decorations.

“Congratulations!” Mr. Harris said. “Your robot design won first prize in the school competition!”

Ethan had entered the competition several weeks earlier, but he had completely forgotten about it.

Lucas started laughing.

“So, was that mysterious enough for you?”

Ethan shook his head and smiled.

“You nearly gave me a heart attack!”

Everyone laughed, and Ethan walked over to examine the robot. It looked even better than the one he had imagined.

For Ethan, it was a school day he would never forget.
